FM27 Launch Preview: play free until 3 November

What is the FM27 Launch Preview?
The Launch Preview is Sports Interactive’s pre-release build of Football Manager 27. It replaces the traditional paid beta with a free opening window: everyone can play on PC and Mac for the first few days, without a pre-order. The build is closer to the final game than previous FM betas, but it is still not the retail release.
It includes the headline FM27 systems: Tactical Effectiveness, the refreshed training setup, live Tactical Tweaks and the updated match engine. It is the best opportunity to see how the new feedback loops feel in your own save before 10 November.

Steam’s store page lists the free period ending at 10:00am on 3 November. The official announcement uses the date rather than a universal unlock time, so check your storefront for the precise local cutoff.
Download and create your test save early. The free window is five days, and the servers or storefronts may be busy near the end.
How to install the FM27 Launch Preview
Steam
- Open the Football Manager 27 store page on Steam.
- Use the free-play option shown during the preview window.
- Install the Launch Preview build and start a new career.
Epic Games Store
- Search for the Football Manager 27 Launch Preview listing.
- Add the free preview to your library.
- Install and launch from your Epic library.
Xbox PC app / PC Game Pass
- Open the Xbox app on Windows and search for Football Manager 27.
- Install the game or use the Game Pass entitlement.
- Launch the preview and create your save.
The official support page has platform-specific troubleshooting if the preview does not appear in your library. If you are using a Mac, check the minimum macOS version before downloading.
What carries over to the full game?
Your Launch Preview save carries into the full game on the same platform and account. That makes the preview genuinely useful: you can establish a club, test a tactical idea and keep the career if you decide to buy or continue through Game Pass.
The caveat is that the game is still being updated. We would avoid starting a long-term narrative save with a specific squad plan if a data or asset update could change the foundations. A test save with a clear purpose is the best use of the preview.
The six things worth testing before 3 November
Tactical Effectiveness
Install one simple tactic and watch the four gauges change after training and recruitment. Note which gauge is slowest to rise.
Training workload
Run a normal week with one match. See how the schedule affects condition, understanding and the next-match gauge.
Match engine stamina
Watch a full match at normal speed. Check whether your wide players and pressers fade before the 70th minute.
Tactical Tweaks
Try one tweak at a time. See how the dugout feedback and opposition changes influence the match.
Box runs
Set different near-post, far-post and late-arrival instructions. Look for wasted or duplicated runs.
Your PC performance
Test the 3D match, 2D view and data screens at your preferred resolution before committing to a long save.

Preview caveats: what not to judge yet
Do not treat the Launch Preview as a final review. Sports Interactive has confirmed that some club and player assets may be absent while data is under approval. Ratings, wage figures and licensed presentation can change. We also label all community ratings as provisional for this reason.
The preview is not a substitute for reading the final feature set either. Some UI, balancing and accessibility details may change between now and 10 November. We date our guides and update them when the retail build changes.

Is the FM27 Launch Preview free?
Yes, on PC and Mac from 29 October until 3 November 2026. You can access it through Steam, Epic Games, the Xbox PC app or PC Game Pass without pre-purchasing. After 3 November, access continues for pre-purchasers and qualifying Game Pass members.

Can I play the FM27 Launch Preview on PS5 or mobile?
The free Launch Preview is a PC and Mac offer. Console and mobile editions launch on 10 November; there is no free console or mobile preview confirmed in the official launch materials.
