How to use the shortlist
Rating is a ceiling, not a starting point
A high recommendation rating tells you the player has a strong potential pathway. It does not tell you that he is ready to start in your first team on day one. Age, current ability, training facilities, squad status and the tactical role all matter. A 16-year-old with an elite ceiling can be a terrible signing if he spends two seasons in your under-21s.
Fit beats headline value
The best FM27 wonderkid for your save is the one who can actually play the role in your tactic. A technical playmaker may not have the stamina for a relentless press. An explosive winger may not fit a low-block counter system that needs defensive discipline. Read the role profile before you fall in love with the rating.
Plan the pathway before the bid
Decide whether the player will start, rotate, train with the first team or go on loan. If you cannot offer minutes, consider a loan with regular playing time. FM27’s development model rewards a coherent plan, not simply a high potential ability number.
Value picks worth a closer look
On this Launch Preview list, Rio Ngumoha, Däulet Orynbasar, Saba Kharebashvili, Jesús Fortea and Thiago Pitarch combine high ratings with relatively low listed wages. They are starting points for scouting, not guaranteed transfers.
Wonderkid FAQ
What counts as a wonderkid in FM27?
Football Manager’s community generally treats a player as a wonderkid when he is 20 or younger at the start of the relevant season and has high potential ability. Different lists use slightly different thresholds, so always check the player’s development path and your save’s data.
Are these FM27 wonderkid ratings official?
No. Our recommendation ratings and wages come from FM Scout’s public Revision 1 shortlist for the FM27 Launch Preview, published on 29 October 2026. They are a community reference, not official Sports Interactive data, and can change before release.
Who is the best value FM27 wonderkid?
On the Launch Preview list, Rio Ngumoha and Däulet Orynbasar stand out for high recommendation ratings at very low listed wages. Their clubs may still refuse to sell, so treat wage value as one part of the recruitment decision.
How do I develop wonderkids in FM27?
Give them a clear pathway to minutes, individual training focused on their best role and a loan if the first team cannot offer regular starts. Tactical Understanding and Player Buy In matter for young players too.
